Benediction or adoration of the Blessed Sacrament is a reverent practice in Catholic worship, emphasizing the real presence of Christ in the Holy Eucharistic. During this rite, the Blessed Sacrament, usually displayed in a monstrance, is adored, and honored by the faithful. It’s a moment of deep spiritual connection, where believers offer prayers, praises, and silent contemplation in the presence of the divine. Benediction ceremonies often include hymns, scripture readings, and blessings, creating a sacred atmosphere of devotion and reverence. This act of adoration fosters a profound sense of communion with God and strengthens the spiritual bonds within the faith community.
In the church’s liturgy, the original translation was written in Latin. However, it has since been translated into various local languages to make this solemn moment more accessible to the people. Thus, Father Oluwafemi Victor Orilua CSSp, despite being Yoruba, undertook the task of making a video of the Igbo version, which was already a widely used rendition in Igbo liturgical celebrations.
