An SS1 Student of Marie Balavenne Catholic College, Ilogbo, Ogun State – Nigeria
I really loved reading and writing since I was in Primary Two at the University of Lagos Staff School. I had so many imaginations, thoughts, and ideas that I wanted to share with everyone and my already existing love for writing made the idea of being an author, a reality.
I joined the Cultural and Creative Arts club in primary five in order to learn more about creative writing and to develop my talent in it. I find inspiration when I think or work around my environment and I write them down as they pop up in my head. Story writing especially is so convenient for me.
I have not participated in any talent show but I have attended occasions as a special guest and have made public speeches. I have the ambition to be a journalist, film director and a lawyer. I believe that journalism can help me to boost my writing and ability to share information, directing can help me write what to direct in a play or any related scenery and law can help me know how to relate with people, settle disputes and make peace reign. These are my three vocal ambitions.
The challenge I have is the issue of time. I believe that I do not have enough time. Combining academics, hostel life and spirituality in a boarding school is already taking a lot of time, but I try my best to use the little time I have as an opportunity to write.
Interestingly, I have written and published a fictional story titled BEHIND THE WALLS. It is a story that investigates the interconnectedness of spirituality, professionalism, and social life. I have sold thousands of copies of this book and am still counting. This encouraged me to write more and now I have manuscripts on the publisher’s table ready to be published. I am now in SSS1 diligently studying as an arts Student.
This is beautiful. Keep it up Yvonne.
MBCC, strive with others.
