The Fine Line Between God’s Patience and His Inevitable Hand.

God is both merciful and just, as seen in the Sodom and Gomorrah story. He offers chances for repentance but no mercy for the unrepentant. Following Christ demands full focus.

The scriptural narration of the activity that occurred between God and Abraham concerning Sodom and Gomorrah depicts two extreme perspectives of God “HE IS MERCIFUL AND A JUST GOD”. God in his mercy promised Abraham that if he can see up to 10 righteous people in this city he will not destroy it. And when it is evident that there is nothing righteous concerning the City, God went on to destroy it.

The sin of Sodomy as many people believed and as the scripture recorded began in the city of Sodom and Gommorah and have continued to spread out throughout the world. The actions of God towards this sin is still what the Church stands in and still preaches, as a child of God and someone who share in the Eucharist there is no room for this type of sin.

The psalmist acclaimed that God is compassion and Love. A divine who gives every individual chance to change and to make amends. A little brightness of the soul is what God always appreciate, instead of condemning God gives a chance for that little brightness to shine up into more righteous state. But God has no mercy for the sinner who has sticked to being unrepentant.

Yesterday we celebrated two great Apostles or if you like followers of Christ. Peter being the traditional Church structure “The Rock” and Paul a representation of the Missionary Church. They were able to achieve those great things because of their selflessness to leave everything behind to do the work of God. In line with that the Gospel of today explains to us that when it comes to following Christ that nothing else matters. The full focus should be on Christ and Christ alone. And when the due time comes, the reward and joy will all be ours.

PEACE BE WITH YOU ALL
