MEET THE MUSICAL SENSATIONAL PACESETTER, HELEN IGWE
I am Igwe Helen Onyedikachi, a gospel singer/ composer /and a writer. Singing has always been a part of me from time immemorial, and as long as I could remember, I was addicted to music. This scenario was cryptically captured during my childhood days, as I could recall how consistently, I would go for choir rehearsals and got involved in any activity linked to music, just so I could have the opportunity to sing. In the same vein, I overly anticipated rehearsals’ days, that it was becoming more like an obsession. I knew I was endowed with the gift of singing because; most people would compliment me whenever I sang.
I kept up with this tempo which was a pedestal to my personal development and training vis a vis music. And as the days rolled by, antecedents that would usher \ in my destiny began to unfold. While I was serving as a lector, on this particular day, I had led the responsorial psalm, afterwards, as the mass dismissed, Rev. Fr. Oluwafemi Victor Orilua CSSp, my parish priest, couldn’t help but hail my singing prowess. At that juncture, he introduced me to the Spiritans Sound Outreach.
I’ve had numerous beautiful moments and highlights on the premise of being a member of the Spiritans Sound Outreach. I was privileged to put together my first song “I WORSHIP YOU” under the auspices of Spiritans Sound Studio. More so, under their guidance still, my first album consisting of seven songs was released. I have learnt to believe in myself, talents, abilities and all, to the credit of this superb organisation. This isn’t a patronizing observation by my humble self, rather, I have experienced this group’s generosity firsthand. Overall, I have equally been taught to return glory to God with the talents he has blessed me with. Moreover, I’ve also been amply fortunate via this outreach, to mingle with people who have got such amazing spiritual, intellectual and career potentials. This kind of interaction has further exposed me to the gospel of Christ and the way of Christian life.
I want to encourage the outreach not to despair or relent in the evangelism of the gospel of Christ to the whole world through music, writing and other forms of art. I would urge the outreach also to keep up with the unveiling of treasures in the forms of skills and abilities, to keep the fire burning because the world anticipate the unraveling of wonders not yet conceived or imagined since the earth is in dire need of new opportunities. And to all those who have been partners with this remarkable outfit in its success story, especially Rev. Fr. Oluwafemi Victor Orilua, I pray that God in His infinite mercy, blesses you all in every facet of life and meets you at the points of your varying needs, Amen.
