Spiritans Sound Celebrates “Treasures Unveiled” 2024

With the slogan “Inspire to Empower”, the event showcased programs aimed at inspiring and equipping the youths to discover and develop their talents.

Spiritans Sound Outreach marked another significant milestone yesterday, 7th of December, 2024, with the celebration of its annual event, “Treasures Unveiled.” The event brought together members of the outreach from various zones across Lagos, alongside a host of Spiritan priests, and distinguished guests from the Lagos metropolis. Dignitaries in attendance included: Very Rev. Fr Augustine Nwodo, CSSp, the Provincial Superior of the Holy Ghost Fathers and Brothers, Province of Nigeria Southwest, Fr. Jonathan Ayemoba, CSSp, Provincial Secretary, Fr. Jegede Patrick, CSSp, a Spiritan missionary serving in Gabon, Fr. Emmanuel Edafe CSSp, Rev Fr Godfrey Igboka CSSp, Rev. Sr. Rosemary Etim, DHS, a [ Daughter of the Holy Spirit], Rev. Sr. Echem Florence, DHS, and Rev Sr Tabitha Tanko, DHS.

However, with the slogan “Inspire to Empower”, the event showcased programs aimed at inspiring and equipping the youths to discover and develop their talents. Spiritans Sound Outreach believes firmly that every individual possesses unique gifts and talents.

Anchored by MC Abif, MC ECool and Adah Orji Princeal, the program began with an opening prayer led by Fr. Jonathan Ayemoba, CSSp, followed by an address from the chairperson of the planning committee, Engr. Mrs. Uwak Lauretta. In his keynote speech, Fr Augustine Nwodo, CSSp, urged attendees to support the Spiritan mission to the youths, emphasing its urgency in today’s world.

Highlights of the Day

The event featured vibrant presentations, including: A special Zulu dance by the Graceful Groovers, a children dance group of the outreach. There was another performance of “Make Hay” by the Ojo Zonal members, one of the songs of Fr. Oluwafemi Victor Orilua CSSp the founder of the outreach. There were artistic exhibitions of young folks, showcasing works such as paintings, robotics, and handcrafted items. These creative young chaps bagged the Spiritans Sound Young Creator Award for the year, an initiative designed to encourage creativity among youths. The recipients included: Victor Chimobi Onu, Emmanuel Amaechi, Juliet Onyinyechi Achuonye, Jude Ekwomadu, Omotolani Akintayo.

Additionally, the book “My Daily Journey with the Holy Spirit” by Fr. Oluwafemi Victor Orilua, CSSp, was presented to the audience. This book encourages readers to cultivate a daily relationship with the Holy Spirit. The chairperson, Engr. Mrs. Uwak Lauretta, who presented the book, invited the attendees to join the weekly online prayer sessions, “A Moment with the Holy Spirit.” This prayer session which is held on zoom every Friday connects the members in a common spiritual sharing with the Holy Spirit.

Youth Talent Showcases

The creative talents of young participants were on full display, featuring: A saxophone performance by Roselgold Ogbonna, a robot presentation by Clement Agbo, handcrafted bags and slippers using unconventional materials by Okechukwu David

Founder’s Address

Fr. Jonathan Ayemoba, CSSp, delivered a speech on behalf of the Outreach’s founder, Fr. Oluwafemi Victor Orilua, CSSp. He highlighted key accomplishments of the year, such as: Launch of the online magazine, “Treasures Unveiler”, establishment of zonal structures in Lagos, the weekly online prayer sessions, the hosting of the first “Training the Trainer” Workshop, the launching of creativity awards in Holy Ghost schools, and the inaugural talents workshop held in September 2024

Looking ahead to 2025, Spiritans Sound Outreach plans to, plan to host the Night to Shine event for children with special needs, establish a Secretariat for the Outreach to serve as a hub for youth engagement, expand the outreach zones beyond Lagos to reach a broader audience

However, the 3rd edition of the Treasures Unveiler magazine was launched. This print version of the Magazine offers a comprehensive overview of the Outreach’s mission and future goals.

The presentations resumed shortly after the magazine’s launch, featuring a variety of captivating performances. Etu Prisca led a Bible recitation and adoration in multiple languages, showcasing the beauty of diversity. Onu Emmanuella delivered a thought-provoking poem titled “The Girl Child, a Lady, a Woman, and a Grandmother.” This was followed by an engaging dance display by Roselgold and Echimka Ogbonna, with a song, “We are here”  by Alicia Keys. Amarachi Agu, an 11-year-old pianist, wowed the audience with her musical talent, Each act added a unique flavour to the event, leaving the audience inspired and uplifted.

The day concluded with an awards ceremony honouring some individuals who have contributed to the growth of the outreach over the years. These include  Mr. Dennis Etonu, Rev. Sr. Rosemary Etim, DHS, Mr. Charles Ozah, Mrs. Sarah Titilayo Asikpata, and Mrs. Esther Ikhulo.

Amid joy and fanfare, the event ended with a closing prayer led by Fr. Jegede Patrick, CSSp, leaving attendees eagerly anticipating next year’s celebration.
