The Israelites are no doubt the special people of God according to the Scripture. From the covenant God had with Abraham about them till now, they have the people whom God chose to protect and favor despite anything. After the Israelites had totally settled in Egypt, and after the death of Joseph, a Pharoah who did not know Joseph came in and tried to install his own authority by clearing the Israelites. But God still showcased that “these are my people, and I am their God.”
The popular phrase “A Pharoah who did not know Joseph ” is one that has been used on many occasions in life and is still applicable until today. You can be that special staff at work till a new boss comes. You may be that special priest in the Diocese or congregation till a new Bishop or Superior comes. You may be that special kid in school until a new authority comes. In the government, you may be the one who gets all the contracts until a different set takes over power. And in reality the new phase may want or not want you. It does not mean you are not doing well. It never meant you are bad. It may be because they want new settings and all that or also because of bad minds, too or grudges or fear of what you can become (As we saw in the readings).
In all these, what we have to do is to make sure and be sure that we are doing the right thing and trust in God. Isrealites so much trust in God and believed in him. Despite all the Pharoah’s attempt to eliminate them, they still stood strong because they were clean, and they put their trust in God. “The more they crush them, the more they increased.” Let us try to make sure we do the right things in life no matter the position in life and also put our trust in God, then allowing him to fight our battles. He never disappoints.
In the Gospel of today, Christ preaches that He is the goal and every other thing is secondary. Family members, loved ones, and even life joys challenges should never be a hindrance to anyone who wants to follow Christ. If these things can be an obstacle for you to focus on Christ, then you are not worthy to be a follower of Christ.
In conclusion, Christ teaches the importance of taking care of a prophet. “Anyone’s who welcomes you welcomes me…..Anyone who welcomes a prophet will have a prophet reward.” The help, the care, the positive support in any way you showed to any disciple or prophet of God will never go unnoticed. And as Christ promised, you will be rewarded accordingly.
PEACE BE WITH YOU ALL
