Sisters of the Daughters of the Holy Spirit (DHS), working at St. Peter’s Parish, Otta, Ogun State, Nigeria, organised a memorable Christmas outing for 203 children on December 28, 2024. Led by Sr. Mary Abodunrin DHS and Sr. Florentina Echem DHS, the children were treated to a delightful experience at the ShopRite Mall, Otta.

St. Peter’s Parish, Otta, comprises two other outstations: St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church, Akeja, and St. Theresa of the Child Jesus, Ilu-Awela. The 203 children who participated in the Christmas outing were drawn from these three stations of the parish. This collaborative effort showcased the unity and shared joy among the parish communities, as they came together to celebrate the festive season. The event highlighted the importance of inclusion and togetherness in nurturing the spiritual and social growth of the children.

This joyful event was made possible by the generous contributions of parents who sought to give their children a special treat during the festive season. Their dedication, combined with the unwavering support of the parish priests, Fr. Clement Asade and Fr. John Ajofoge, ensured the success of the outing. Both priests have been instrumental in nurturing the parish’s children’s ministry, serving as pillars of encouragement and inspiration.

The outing was designed to immerse the children in the joy and spirit of Christmas. At the mall, they explored, laughed, and shared in the excitement of the season. The day was filled with fun activities that created lasting memories and reinforced the essence of Christmas—love, togetherness, and joy.

Through this initiative, the Daughters of the Holy Spirit demonstrated their commitment to enriching the spiritual and social lives of the children. It was a beautiful reminder of the importance of community and the true meaning of Christmas: spreading joy and love to all.
