Our identity in Christ

As Christ's ambassadors, our mission is to bring peace and the Gospel. Don't rejoice in power; find honor in knowing Jesus and having your name in heaven. Walk with Him daily.

We learn from the gospel that we have no mission of our own. God is the initiator of every mission, because he is the one who is sending us. We are mere ambassadors. No matter the way people receive us, we are meant to bring peace to the places we go, both in times of rejection and when they welcome us with joy. What they do to us, they do to Jesus, the sender, because we are mere ambassadors. We should feel honoured for acting in the person of Christ.

However, we must not rejoice in the power we possess but most importantly in the singular honour of knowing Jesus Christ. The Lords warns us against the pursuit of success or results. He simply wants us to submit to him in humble service. And when we follow his bidding through the infusion of his spirit, we shall be unharmed, and heaven shall rejoice over us as obedient servants.

Like the disciples sent by Jesus, we are called to bring peace, heal the sick, and bring the Gospel of the Kingdom of God closer to the people. We are not meant to rejoice in what we achieve but in the knowledge of God that leads to salvation. The Lord said, “Do not rejoice in this, that the spirits are subject to you, but rejoice that your names are written in heaven.”

Paul said in the second reading, “Far be it from me to boast except in the cross of our Lord Jesus Christ, by which the world has been crucified to me, and I to the world.”

As we work for the Lord daily, may we always strive to walk with him. May our hearts never cling to earthly praises or spiritual power, but to the truth that we are loved, redeemed, and secured in Christ. Amen.
